At Light Hydrocarbons area in TERNEUZEN, the Mod Migration Program, is preparing the replacement of the existing control system, MOD5, by a new control system ABB800xA, during major turnarounds scheduled in 2025 (LHC3) and 2027 (LHC2).
The preparation for DCS migration involves extensive simulation of plant software programmed in ABB800xA platform. For simulation the team uses Indiss Plus high Fidelity Simulator. In addition, training shall be delivered to a large crew of operators using Indiss Plus simulator. Over 700 operational procedures shall be revisited to match the requirements of the new DCS ABB800xA, what means removing / adding tags, controllers, clarifications. Procedures translation from
English – Dutch and vice versa for project purposes is required. During the plant turnaround multiple Commissioning and Startup activities will be executed. Successful candidate shall provide support to operators, regarding new DCS applications, to ensure smooth and safe startup of new DCS. For these activities, the Mod Migration Program will hire two Senior Process Control Technicians, to
perform simulation and testing of the new DCS applications. Understanding DOWTRAN code is required to guide the ABB programmers when developing new applications, or communication between new ABB and MOD5 remaining at other plants or locations.
We look for candidates who understand operating procedures at refineries or preferably Light Hydrocarbons technology. The successful candidates shall update operating procedures by adjusting necessary details to match ABB800xA requirements.
Both roles will become contingent staff fully dedicated to Mod Migration Project in Terneuzen, and with functional alignment to the Process Automation Leader of LHC area.

Acts as a technical resource for Estimating within the Global Project Methodology (GPM) work process. Supports establishment of an overall cost baseline from which cost management reporting and monitoring are performed to ensure cost effective project execution. Coordinates data inputs from the various disciplines and functions to ensure accurate and competitive estimates. Engages the project steering team to understand causes of deviations from tolerances, if any, and the need to establish actions to mitigate. Requires broadened technical skills in analytical/scientific methods or operational processes to perform a defined array of activities. May act as an informal resource for team members with less experience.
