The R&D Technologist role is a function which is performed within the Technology and Innovation (T&I) lab under the R&D Department. The activities are in day shift (Fulltime/40hrs).

The R&D technologist has operational responsibilities and will be working on governing application fabrication methods such as injection molding, sheet extrusion or advanced manufacturing of innovative materials that are needed to advance Trinseo’s material positioning in providing material solutions to the industrial application areas.

  • This role will oversee improvement engineering done on the R&D sheet extrusion lines
  • This role is material agnostic and can utilize the entire Trinseo material palette and beyond to arrive to high performance solutions for customers.
  • The R&D Technologist role collaborates with colleagues in the mechanical testing lab, the fabrication shop of the T&I lab, Technical Service and Development department and will report to the T&I Laboratory Leader for application, research and mechanical testing.
  • The R&D Technologist will be planning and safely executing the lab work requests and running relevant machinery (e.g. injection molding machine, sheet extruder, vacuum and hot press, etc.)

R&D Technologist (direct in dienst bij Trinseo)

  • Preferably bachelor’s degree (e.g. HBO or professional bachelor) in technical direction such as materials manufacturing and processing, polymer engineering, mechanical engineering or equivalent field.
  • Preferably 5-10 years of experience as R&D or industry technologist
  • Preferably knowledge and experience on manufacturing equipment and machinery for processing of plastics
  • You are eager to learn and hands-on apply new technologies and production techniques for advanced materials processing of polymers, plastics and composites
  • You bring a can-do attitude to work but with a safety-first mindset.

Your competencies: Innovative, team player, collaborative, decisive, analytical, communicational skills and problem-solving oriented.
